I transitioned from an Intern to a Junior Account Executive

Before starting my internship with Heneghan, I was eager to gain a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a public relations professional. At the same time, I had just begun my studies with the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, working towards a diploma in Public Relations. I was determined to find an internship that would complement my academic learning, allowing me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. Joining Heneghan provided the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between my online learning and practical experience, and I was excited to fully immerse myself in both.

Joining the team as an intern marked the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey. From day one, I was fully immersed in the dynamic world of Public Relations, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to impactful work.

During my internship, I worked on a variety of tasks, ranging from drafting press releases and creating media lists to event planning. I received thorough feedback on all my work which not only improved my ability to produce quality content but also prepared me to provide professional material for clients. Learning about the world of PR from an incredibly supportive and patient team, who consistently challenged me and tested my skills truly improved my expertise in public relations and writing.

The supportive culture at Heneghan played a key role in my growth. I was assigned a mentor, Rory Sweeney, and the team encouraged me to take ownership of my work, provided invaluable mentorship, and celebrated my achievements. Through their guidance, I have gained the confidence to take pride in my accomplishments and I can envision a long career for myself in this industry.

After completing my internship, I was thrilled to accept a full-time position as a Junior PR Account Executive. In this role, I continue to build on the foundation I established during my internship, supporting my team on diverse campaigns and working closely with clients to deliver impactful results. My transition from intern to full-time employee has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my journey so far. Being part of an organisation that values creativity, collaboration and continuous learning has shown me a newfound passion for PR, and I look forward to contributing to the success of Heneghan in the future.
